Sarah Candela (Head Immigration Attorney)
As a dual citizen of the United States and the United Kingdom, Sarah personally understands how important immigration is to families, having represented her own family through the process.
Sarah applies this same passion and dedication to her work, providing diligent legal representation to clients before the Immigration Court, USCIS, ICE, CBP, and consulates worldwide.
Sarah has won several awards for her immigration work, including the national CLEA award. She is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).

He has a strong background in both the legal field and the corporate world, holding stints at global companies, such as LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics in South Korea.
Along with his business background, Luciano had always been interested in helping others, more specifically the immigrant community, joining the American Association of Immigration Lawyers (AILA), where he was appointed to the role of AILA’s Liaison Immigration Prosecution Office. He is passionate about helping his community through his work.
Arinda Brooks (Founding Attorney)
Brooks got her Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law in 2009.
During her final two years at BU, Brooks began clerking for the Boston law firm of Landman Akashian. She joined the firm as an attorney after law school, focusing her practice on workers’ compensation and Social Security disability cases.
Founded in 2013, Brooks steadily grew her firm and would later add more attorneys, skilled in immigration law cases.
“For me,” she says, “the highlight of my career is being able to help working people and getting to represent the underdog – whether they are going up against the government about their immigration status or whether they are fighting big insurance companies for the compensation they deserve.”
Under Brooks’s direction, the firm has developed a strong reputation working on behalf of the area’s Spanish-speaking and Brazilian Portuguese-speaking communities.
Brooks is a member of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Massachusetts Bar Association and is also a member of the Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts.
Safie da Costa Soarès (Attorney, Polyglot)
Safie da Costa Soarès is fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese. After spending part of her youth in Benin, West Africa, Safie went back to France, where she was born, and got her associates degree in Penal Law. Having known from a young age that she wanted to be a lawyer in the US, Safie moved to the US at 20 years old, residing in New York where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies.
Safie then went on to get her JD from Georgetown Law in 2016. After graduating, she remained in the District of Columbia where she worked at the Office of the Attorney General as a Civil litigator and before joining Brooks Law.
Safie values the ability to relate to her clients, and feels that Immigration Law gives her a personal connection and understanding of her clients. Having emigrated to the US by herself, she understands how difficult immigration to the US can be.
Albert Ngo (Attorney, Bilingual)
In addition to being an avid law student, Albert has shown a strong entrepreneurial streak. Before taking the bar exam, Albert partnered with another graduate to create Lawwly.com, a centralized database of free legal resources and tools aimed at attorneys and law students.
After passing the bar exam on his first try during the pandemic, Albert recently joined Brooks Law as a newly minted attorney. He one day hopes to use his Cantonese-speaking language skills to empower and serve the Cantonese Chinese community in Boston.
“It is my goal at Brooks Law to build a strong reputation of service for the Cantonese Chinese community comparable to the stellar track record that Brooks Law currently enjoys with the Spanish, Brazilian, and Portuguese-speaking communities.”
Jennifer Gesualdi (Attorney, Bilingual)
The daughter of Argentinian immigrants, Jennifer Gesualdi is a lifelong Spanish-speaker who focuses a large portion of her practice on immigration cases as well as representing Hispanic workers in Social Security and workers’ compensation claims.
By the time she was in college at the University of Florida, Gesualdi already felt a commitment to serve Spanish-speaking communities. She volunteered in English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for undocumented farm workers while she was in college.
Convinced that she wanted to become a lawyer, Gesualdi enrolled at Brooklyn Law School, where she continued to serve the Hispanic community. She served on the “Immigrant Visa Assistance Project“, which assists immigrant crime victims, as well as on the Safe Harbor Project, where she was a student intern representing asylum-seekers.
Gesualdi currently lives in Somerville and enjoys being part of greater Boston’s lively Argentine tango-dancing community.
Michael Hernandez (Attorney, Bilingual)

Hernandez joined Brooks Law as an attorney focusing on immigration and on personal injury cases.
Through the years Michael has developed skills in litigation ranging from complex immigration cases, to personal injury, and criminal defense.
“I love being able to represent clients from all walks of life. Every day there is a new challenge that reminds you of why you became an attorney. Nothing beats the smile on your client’s face after a job well done.
